A portable application can be run from a removable drive (USB flash drive, iPod, portable hard drive, etc) on any Windows computer without installation.
You will carry the program with settings on removable drive and don't modify settings on host computer.
On Vista and above turn off User Account Control (UAC) or run launcher as admin.

Download Portable Winamp Full (14.5 MB)
Download Portable Winamp Lite (8.1 MB)
Extract and run WinampPortable.
On Windows XP Winamp Full needs .NET Framework 3.5 and remain in process after exit: run KillWinamp.exe.
Settings and playlists created in portable folder (Data\Winamp).
Settings of installed Winamp should be preserved.

Retry or use JDownloader Portable (needs Java Runtime Environment Portable or installed but is very usefull).
Winamp doesn't close properly. If i close the window with Alt+F4 or mouse click on the red square it only close the window but the two process winamp.exe and WinampPortable.exe are still in the task manager. I have to kill the process winamp.exe from task manager to close Winamp completely.
I am using it on Windows xp SP3.
I can't test because Winamp Full even installed don't run on a clean (fresh installed) Windows XP Pro SP3.
Winamp Lite added,tested working.
Winamp full needs net framework 3.5 to run. I can confirm that it is not closing properly, i tested this on two laptops. It is not a big problem because i keep Winamp open most of the time, but i think it is some kind of bug.

I don't know if you are taking requests but if you can make .net freamwork 3.5 portable will be great. It will be a real time saver.
I created ThinApp package of Net Framework 3.5 but is it possible to link Winamp to the package? I know how to link two ThinApp packages but Winamp here is not created with ThinApp.
No, Winamp can't see virtualized .NET Framework and you have to virtualize Winamp too to link two packages.
Will be there any difference in performance or disadvantage in ThinApp Winamp? I guess your portable Winamp is better to use but i don't want to install net framework so i may create ThinApp Winamp.

Little "Winamp Media Library Plug-in" "Nullsoft Portable Music Player Support" prevents WinampPortable from closing its process "winamp.exe". If you delete "ml_pmp.dll", this issue is history. ;-)
